Essie Summer 2013 Collection

Being the vixen that I am, I do not have the full collection. I only have four shades in my possession: Full Steam Ahead, The More the Merrier, Naughty Nautical and Sunday Funday.

Are you disappointed? Well, don’t be.  I’m not such a vixen that I won’t swatch them for you.

Full Steam Ahead is described as a “medium toned lilac with a pearlescent punch”,

The More the Merrier is described as a “juicy lime green”.

Naughty Nautical is described as a “shimmering brilliant blue-green” . It contains tiny shimmer that you can kind of see in the photo.

Sunday Funday is described as a “beautiful, tangerine crush coral nail polish with soft shimmer”. It was difficult to photograph at times. In some shots it looked bright pink. It’s really a coral-pink.

Rock the Boat and The Girls Are Out were not included in the mini set. My experience with the ones I bought was less than stellar. With the exception of Naughty Nautical, the formula was very thick and gloopy. I don’t know if I got a bad batch or what, but I was shocked to find them (especially The More the Merrier) so difficult to apply. After 2 coats the three rotten apples were somewhat streaky and uneven. The More the Merrier was the worst one. Sunday Funday and Full Steam Ahead were better, but not by much.

Apart from the stunning color (and the microshimmer that made it unique), the other reason why everyone should buy Naughty Nautical is because it applies beautifully and covers the nail well after just 2 coats. I didn’t have any streakiness or stringy gloop to deal with.  The only one I recommend getting is Naughty Nautical.
