Review: NARS Deep Throat Powder Blush

You know that great feeling you get inside when you’ve got a crush on someone? The heart fluttering, the tingling sensation in your tummy, the flush in your cheeks when you see him/her? That’s the way I feel when I look at my hard-core crush Deep Throat. As with all crushes, I blush whenever we meet.

The company’s website refers to it as “a flirty, sheer peach”. Flirty is totally accurate. This gives me the most amazing flush of color, and lasts at least 6 hours. For my oily skin, that’s quite an accomplishment. I rarely wear makeup for longer than 8 hours, but overall I tend to have good staying power with NARS blushes.  On the rare day I get home late, my blush has suffered little fading.

I would describe it as more of a pink-toned peach rather than an orange-toned peach. It contains fine gold shimmer, which is not overpowering at all. On my tanned skin, it appears more pink, kind of like the pinkish blush on a ripe peach.

With flash:

I’m NC40-42 in MAC language, and this is my “cold weather flush” color. If you are darker than me, I strongly suggest trying it out in the store before purchasing. You may have to pack it on to get it to appear, or it may not show up on you at all.  It is pricey at $27, but I don’t need to use much

Pros: Great pigmentation, not too strong shimmer, gorgeous color.
Cons: Very expensive ($27), people have complained about the rubber packaging, which could get dirty easily.

Grade: A
