Tutorial: Glam Neutral Makeup for Tanned Skin

As per one of my reader’s requests, I’ve created a glamorous neutral eye makeup look.

Start with a flesh-colored eyelid primer (Stila Caramel). Use a fluffy brush to apply a gold-bronze shimmer e/s to your lid, stopping just before the crease (BFTE Golden Age).

Use the same fluffy brush to apply a shimmery warm tan e/s (BFTE Heat) directly over the bronze e/s.

Use a crease brush to sweep in a dark chocolate shimmer e/s (NARS Galapagos). "Pencil" in the shadow in stiff moves (hold the brush like a pencil). Be sure to blend gently.

Gently blend a deep dark brown matte e/s (Stila Nanda Devi) into the outer v.

We want midnight darkness all the way! Use black gel liner (Stila Smudge Pot) to line the upper lashline. You can use the same liner to line the lower lashline, but I wanted to use a kajal (Lakme Kajal). I used some Stila Nanda Devi to "set" the kajal on the lower lashline. This makes it a little more brown, and helps the kajal to not smudge.

Use a shimmery beige pearl e/s to highlight the browbone (NYX Ultra Pearl Mania in Mink).

Curl the lashes and finish with black mascara (PF 100% Natural Origin).

The key to doing this look is to jazz up the eyes with shimmery golds and bronzes. You can alter it to suit your tastes. For example, try a true gold like UD Baked instead of a warm tan. Or use peach shades. Some alternatives:

-Use a shimmery brown eyeliner like Stila Smudge Stick in Lionfish.
-Highlight the browbone and inner corner with a bright yellow gold like MAC Goldmine.

Use a glitter liner to line the upper lashline instead of regular black.

The one I used above is Stila Glitter Liner in Bronze.

Lip & Cheek Recommendations:

*Keep the cheeks neutral if you are going to wear a strong lip color. Reversely, if you are going to contour the cheeks and use a blush, go easy on the lips.

Blush & Bronzer Recs:

-MAC Sweet as Cocoa blush
-Bronzers like Wet n Wild Princess, Stila Sun Bronzer in Shade 02, Physician’s Formula Sunlight Bronzer.
-NARS Luster
-Benefit Hoola

Lip Color Recs:

-Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks in Spicy Cinnamon, Toast of NY, and Rum Raisin
-NYX Syclia lipstick
-NYX Chocolate Mousse gloss
-Smashbox 35mm gloss
-Wet n Wild Mochalicious
