Review: Cover Girl Perfect Point Plus Eye Pencil in Black Onyx

Cover Girl was THE brand for me when I was in junior high and high school (besides Jane, Fetish, Bonne Bell and Wet n Wild). I could be counted on to sport French Vanilla eyeshadow and Brown eye pencil up until the 11th grade.

I haven’t really paid much attention to CG since becoming an adult. Their products weren’t very exciting as I got older and discovered brands like MAC, NARS, NYX, etc.

Still, it doesn’t hurt to revisit old times. That’s why I picked up this eyeliner.

It’s a slim mechanical pencil liner.

It comes in two other shades: Charcoal and Midnight Blue.

Black Onyx glides on very smoothly. I experienced no tugging, as I sometimes do with pencils. The color is a very deep black. It’s comparable to MAC Feline and Stila Onyx Kajal (I can swatch these three together if you want).

I get about 4-5 hours of wear time on my lower lashline before it starts to need a touch-up. On my upper lashline, it lasts for about 8-9 hours. It doesn’t smudge or smear very easily. With Cover Girl, I don’t expect much, but this eyeliner surprised me. In a pleasant way, of course.

Pros: Deep black color, applies smoothly, no tugging, lasts for at least 4 hours, very affordable and accessible.
Cons: Does not last as long on the lower lashline, not as much product as other brands offer(means it will finish sooner).

Grade: A-

I bought this one on Ebay for $4. Most drugstores sell it for $5.
