Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Cherrylicious, Violet Pop and Latino

I bought Cherrylicious and Violet Pop during my massive Rimmel haul.

L-R: Latino, Violet Pop, Cherrylicious

Swatches in natural light:

L-R: Cherrylicious, Violet Pop, Latino.

Violet Pop is a little darker in person.

In sunlight:

I expected Cherrylicious to be a deeper color when worn, but it’s actually deceptively sheer.

I like the colors, but the quality of these wasn’t great enough to persuade me to repurchase them or try other Moisture Renew lipsticks. Violet Pop applied fine at first, but faded quickly and rather unevenly. Both VP and Cherrylicious are not as opaque as I thought they would be. Latino is a nice shade (kind of an odd name for a lipstick?) and I think the color would be good for those who are NC35 (olive skintone) or lighter.

There is also a strange, unpleasant smell emanating from these. It’s not vanilla-like or faint like MAC or Revlon. It’s a downright yucky smell.

If the smell alone was a problem, I would repurchase. But I cannot let slide the poor performance of these lip products. Rapid fading, uneven application and lack of opacity makes me feel like these aren’t worth buying.

That was my experience. How about you? Have you tried the Moisture Renew line? Do you disagree with my findings? What are your thoughts?

The shades look nice. I want to try the Kate Moss series but they seem to be out of stock most of the time.

It’s a shame about the performance of these, because the colours, accessbility and price point are all pretty decent!

Also, is it just me or is ‘Latino’ a really odd name for a lipstick?
