Review: Lauren Brooke Pressed Eyeshadow Compact in Smoky Quartz/Twilight

This was in an Eco Emi box I received a couple of months ago.

Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques is a natural/organic makeup and skincare brand. Eco Emi has featured a few of their products in the past.

Here’s the ingredient list:

Vegan) Matte Ingredients: Sericite, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Orange) Wax, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli Seed) Oil, Boron Nitride, Zinc Oxide, Magnesium Stearate, Certified Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Silica, Certified Organic Non-GMO Lecithin (from soy), Certified Organic Non-GMO Capryllic/Capric Triglycerides (Coconut Oil Extract), Comfrey-derived Allantoin, Certified Organic Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Extract, Natural Non-GMO Vitamin E (+/- iron oxides, mica)

Unfortunately, the eyeshadow wasn’t wrapped up very well. This is how it arrived in the mail.

It’s messy and inconvenient, but I was able to use it nonetheless.

The swatches went on smoothly and with decent pigmentation. I had no trouble blending or applying this.

I really had high hopes for these. I wore them on my eyelids with primer for about 4 hours before I experienced fading. The fallout was atrocious. There was dark eyeshadow all along my cheekbones, requiring massive cleanup.

Even with primer, both shades didn’t stay on my lids for more than 4 hours.

I like the concept of organic/natural eyeshadow, but this one doesn’t seem worth purchasing. It won’t last all day, and there is the risk of fallout continuing to occur even after you finish the initial application.

Pros: Natural ingredients, lovely texture, great pigmentation
Cons: Terrible fallout, doesn’t last too long, can shatter easily.

Grade: C

Bleh. Broken eyeshadows are the WORST. They get EVERYWHERE in your armour when you try to carry them on dungeon raids. Which you’d need to do for touchups, it sounds like with this one…

the shades are beautiful but I really don’t like a lot of fallout

  3. That sounds pretty bad. I hate it when you want to love something and it turns out to be a stinker.
