Current Favorites: Beauty and Life Vol. 18

Happy New Year, friends!

I wanted to start off this year by thanking everyone who has participated on this blog in some way. The people who read, the people who lurk (there is a fee for lurking, by the way) and those who comment. I really appreciate everyone who has given their time and thoughts to making this blog better and brighter.

Except for those lurkers. How come you don’t wanna talk to us? 😛

Here is what’s so great about the start of the new year

1 ) My New Cookbooks: For Yule I received Decolonize Your Diet by Luz Calvo and The Great Victorian Cookbook by John Midgley. They’re both very unique, very different cuisines. I tried out one recipe from DYD so far, and it was amazing. I want to try one from TGVC next.

2) L’Oreal Infallible Lipstick in Persistent Plum: I received this in a makeup swap. It’s one of those products I feel fate dropped in my hands. It’s a gorgeous plum creme, and it really looks plum- not, you know, vampy or too red or too dark or too blue. It’s great for my skintone.

3) Sages Aromatherapy Natural Herbal Decongestant: I received this in an Eco Emi box ages ago. At first I was like “what the heck did I receive a health product for when I wanted makeup?” Tantrums aside, I started using this when I caught a cold, and it has been AMAZING at clearing my stuffy nose. I am trying to get over a cold right now, and whenever I feel like I can’t breathe, I grab this and within a few seconds I start inhaling precious air (it’s my air. Don’t hog it).  You can buy it here.

4) Homemade Cookies from Friends: One of the best gifts I got for Yule was from a dear friend of mine who used to work in a restaurant. She sent me a large tin of homemade sugar cut-outs, peppermint meringues, and ishler torteletts.

5) My Readership: Yes, I do love my readers. Since 2011 (the year this blog became active) people have come and gone, but I am still grateful for the people who comment and say positive things. Even if you did not come back. I learn a lot from the comments, even if it may seem that I don’t say much in response.  I read everything and I pay attention. I’m so glad you all are here to share my love of makeup, fashion and everything pretty.

Once you finish wiping away your tears, tell me what you’ve been loving recently in the comments.

aww…nice post happy new year dear 🙂 xoxo

  3. I did receive some cookbooks as well, “Deliciously Ella” and “Get the Glow”, both of course completely blogger influenced. I have had a browse through both of them, but haven’t cooked anything as of yet.My husband did frown at the vegan cookbook (he is a hunter), but he will get used to eating vegan every once in a while.
