Review: Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer in Big Bang

While I was rummaging about in Walgreens looking for very important grown-up stuff (bandages, cough drops, etc. Stuff that isn’t makeup or candy) I spotted some of these new Lip Lacquers. They were on sale for about $3.50.

I chose the one shade that was on sale that I could see myself wearing: a bright red called Big Bang.

The packaging is cute. I especially like the faceted handle (makes it easy to grasp and twist).

The doe-foot application has a slight hollow at its flat side. I imagine it was designed this way to pick up more product.

The color is a bright, coral red.

The shade looks beautiful on my tan complexion. The issues lie in its lack of longevity and staying power. Without eating or drinking, this managed to stay on my lips for 90 minutes. That’s it.

With eating and drinking about 80% of it disappeared.

I wouldn’t recommend this lip color. Perhaps the other shades perform better, but this particular one doesn’t last long at all. I don’t know anyone who would want to reapply their lip color every 90 minutes. It’s a real disappointment because the shade is gorgeous and could have been my go-to red this summer.

Pros: Beautiful color, nice packaging.
Cons: Doesn’t last long enough to make it worth your while.

Grade: D

  1. Sangeeta says:

The pigmentation of the lip lacquer is nice. Looks pretty.

  2. I had a similar one a while back, but the color didnt agree with me, so I never wore it long enough to actually see how it would survive a meal.
