Review: ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in Tansy, Frick n Frack, Lost and Panda

After hearing about the new Ultra Satin Lip colors, I had to try them out! I placed an order for four shades.

I love the cute message cards they include in your order.

The lipsticks come in a sizable cylindrical tube with a shiny silver handle. I feel like this is great packaging considering the low cost ($6 per lipstick). It doesn’t feel cheap or hastily assembled to me.

Frick n Frack is  a warm brownish rose.

Lost is a browned red.

Tansy is a true 90s chocolate brown.

Panda is a deep berry-plum.

Overall I experienced good results with all four lipsticks. Frick n Frack came off the easiest after eating and drinking. It faded mostly in the middle. The rest held up nicely, but I still needed a touch-up after a meal. I was able to wear this for at least 5 hours (with the other three shades, 6 hours) with no touch-ups. I have been looking for more soft pink shades for brown skin, so I was happy to find Frick n Frack!

There is a slight stickiness on my lips as I wear them. It eventually tones down after a time. I think the stickiness is minimal and I understand why it happens: the lipstick is drying down and needs a way to adhere to the lips. It generally didn’t bother me too much.

Tansy is best worn when any hyperpigmentation is covered up. I have a little bit of hyperpigmentation around my mouth area. Without concealing it, Tansy looked very dark and muddy. Concealing the HP made a world of difference: Tansy turned into this rich chocolate shade. It looked like the lipsticks Monica wore in 1997.

Lost, Panda and Tansy especially offered rich and heavy pigmentation. The colors are so beautiful on darker skintones (although people with lighter skintones can wear them too).

Pros: Rich pigmentation, nice packaging, very affordable price, wears for a few hours.
Cons: For now it can only be purchased online.

Grade: A
