Do heroines ever whirl around? Did Elizabeth Bennett ever whirl around in her bedroom? Did Buffy ever whirl around in the cemetery (in between vampire slayings, of course)? How about Anne Shirley of Green Gables? Surely the most imaginative redhead in all of fiction did some spinning on those green pastures.
Well, we at least have one Heroine and one Whirl here with us. They’re staying put for the moment.
L-R: Whirl and Heroine.
I bought these through a makeup group at a discount. Whirl was $11 and Heroine was $9. Not bad considering that MAC now charges $17 for one lipstick. I remember when they used to cost $14.50.
My camera is a punk for not doing these lip colors justice. They’re both a little darker in person. Whirl especially is a deep mocha on me once I cover up the faint hyperpigmentation around my mouth area. Heroine is a pretty bright Barney purple on me. It’s less neon than it appears in the photo. I expect to get a lot of use out of it this summer.
Whirl is a great neutral lip color for me. It’s described as a “dusty rose” on the MAC website, but I find it to be a rosy brown. It definitely appears more brown than rose on me. I’m a tad disappointed in this finding, but it’s not a total loss because the color still works for my NC42 skin.
What do you think? Would you buy these for yourself?
