Do You Have Personal Beauty Idols?

I have an entire Pinterest board devoted to my beauty idols. I also pinned photos of women I find beautiful in general.

When I was growing up the grunge era, Courtney Love and Shirley Manson strongly influenced my outlook on makeup and my style. Everyone I knew condemned Courtney’s smudged red lipstick, but I loved it because to me it looked “lived-in”.

I also obsessively followed every Gwen Stefani look there was, and I painted my nails bright red for weeks at a time in her honor.

As I got older I fell for Salma Hayek’s flawless style. She always looks impeccable and polished. I aspire to be as gorgeous as she is (this will never happen lol).

I also had some non-famous beauty idols. When I was in the 8th grade a girl named Kim attended my school. She had green streaked hair, a silver bead necklace, Contempo Casual fashions and I thought she was the coolest girl at school.

Throughout my academic career I met lots of people whom I really admired for their fashion in one way or another. When I was an 18 year old college student there was a pale young woman who had class on the floor of one of my classes. She had stark white hair. She looked like a character from Lord of the Rings.

Do you have any beauty idols?

  1. I don’t really have any beauty idols. I like a few makeup looks on people, and I admire anyone that has found his or her style, but I have always done myself. At least that is what I want to believe.

No I don’t! Sometimes I cross paths with a woman and can’t help thinking that I wish I had her style. But I’ve never really tried to copy someone’s look. My makeup obsession started on the internet in the depth of forums when I was in my late 20s, so I was mostly inspired by the other girls posting there: normal woman rather than celebrities.
