Review: Maybelline Colorsensational The Loaded Bolds Lipstick in Smoking Red

Once I realized a deep, rich red was a part of the lineup, I knew I had to own it.

Smoking Red is a dark red that sort of leans burgundy wine.

In the tube it looks more red than burgundy.

Here is the swatch. This is one swipe of color.

It feels very creamy and not at all dry on the lips. It went on very smooth and didn’t feel too sticky or tacky. There is a slight sheen to it when worn. I would say this has a satin finish. It almost looks semi-matte to me but it’s definitely not matte.

It wore on me for about 7 hours. It came off when I ate lunch and required reapplication. Other than that it wore on me quite well. This shade tends to fade in the center of the lip.

It has that signature powdery, perfume-like scent Maybelline lip colors are known for.

Pros: Beautiful color, creamy formula, not drying, affordable, decent pigmentation.
Cons: Fragrance might bother some, fades in the center of the mouth after 6 hours.

Grade: A-

It looks so intense and creamy! I haven’t bought a lipstick at the drugstore in a while, but I’ve been thinking about trying the Bolds range.
