Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder

As it has been documented on this blog, I have a super oily face.

Well, maybe it’s not as oily now as it was when I was 17, but it’s still pretty darn greasy.

I bought Urban Decay De-Slick because I heard it was a good powder for oily folks. Let’s go look at it.

From the website: “This lightweight pressed powder blots oil and stops shine without messing up your makeup.Shiny can be really good (when it comes to expensive jewelry, for example) or really bad (when it comes to your T-zone). To curb shiny skin and keep the attention on you for all the RIGHT reasons, use De-Slick, our cult-favorite, shine-stopping pressed powder.

Don’t let the pale lavender color fool you; this baby goes on invisibly and works on every skin tone. Try it on naked skin (if you run into the hot guy at the gym), or over foundation (for touch-ups on the dance floor without destroying your makeup). Because the formula contains super lightweight, oil-absorbing rice powder, you won’t feel the powder but you’ll see the shine-free results.”

The packaging is cool. It’s purple, imprinted and not at all bulky.

It comes with a plastic insert and a purple topped puff (which I never use).

The powder is stark white. This is not an issue for me. It doesn’t make me look ghostly or ashy.

Does it work as a mattifying powder? Well, it works better than regular face powder. During the summer it doesn’t hold up as well as I would like, but it does a decent job of keeping the shine down to a minimum. In the cooler months my skin fares better with this. I still get a touch oily by 3pm but it’s not as bad as it was before.

If I were to grade this, I would give it a B+. Not bad but not excellent either.

Have you tried this? Do you have any mattifying powders you love?

I love the packaging! I’m also a tad on the oily side, so I’ll have to check this out!

I love the packaging but for that price, I think I want something that performs better than ‘okay’.
