Review: Tarte Tarteist Lip Paints in Bae, Frenemy, Manbun and Brownie

During Tarte’s sale, I picked up four shades. I got them for $14 each instead of the usual $20.

L-R: Bae, Frenemy, Brownie and Manbun.

L-R: Manbun, Brownie, Frenemy and Bae.

I’m ranking them in order of best to worst:

Manbun had the best staying power, followed by Bae (which faded a little by the fourth hour). Manbun stayed put for at least 5 hours.

Frenemy’s poor performance pushes it to the bottom of the pile. It went on rich and lushly dark at first, but faded badly by the third hour, especially in the middle of my mouth.

Brownie is a flat brown on me. I need to use a lipliner to wear it in a more flattering way. It lasts about four hours on me.

All shades have a creamy, semi-matte finish. They feel good on the lips and aren’t drying.

Application was decent with no tugging or patchiness.

Pros: Nice colors, easy to use packaging, decent price point, convenient slim tube packaging.
Cons: Some fade very quickly.

Manbun (A)
Bae (B+)
Frenemy (C)
Brownie (B)
